Janet was originally born in Florida and now reside in North Georgia. At an early age, she was constantly creating and knew at an early age she wanted to pursue art as her career.
As she developed in her artistic style, Janet took a quick liking to drawing/painting horses and dogs as she was almost constantly around them. Her artwork reflects her deep passion for nature, wildlife, and the western lifestyle. Her pieces showcase wildlife, landscapes, cowboys, and more, aiming to immerse viewers in a story told through color, texture, and brushwork. Janet is dedicated to capturing the essence of her subjects, supporting them with vivid colors and intricate brushwork to create a captivating experience without words. Through her paintings, she aspires to convey not just a moment but a rich experience that engages the viewer visually.
In & out of the studio
Janet has transformed a section of her home into a functional studio where she likes to kick off her day with music. To start her artwork, Janet carefully examines a reference photo to understand her subject. Next, she readies her surface to sketch the subject, using the reference photo as a guide throughout the process.
Outside of her studio and creative endeavors, Janet enjoys quality time with her family and loved ones. She frequently embarks on travels and adventures to discover new places and seek inspiration. Her rural lifestyle, including farm activities, horseback riding, and caring for animals, has significantly influenced her artwork. Janet draws inspiration from nature and the beauty of everyday life.
Janet’s Artist Statement
I'm driven in my work to capture the inspiration of my subject and support it with the excitement of color, texture, and brushwork. With a variety of components in my paintings, my desire is to represent not just a moment but an experience in my work that visually captivates the viewer. As I incorporate values, various hues, and textures, the intent is for all the components to work together in harmony to tell a story without words. I consistently work to sharpen and develop my techniques in my work to better define the story I am conveying in a realistic form.
